| | | | | Thanksgiving Celebration - Be Thankful For Everything |
Thursday, November 26, 2009 | | Thursday 26th November 2009, SGS celebrated an international event named Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving was one of international events that we will celebrate every year. The reason why we celebrate Thanksgiving was to let the students felt gratefulness for everything that they’ve got.
This event started at 08.00 am. The opening activity was “Story Telling” by Mr. Jim in the theatre room. He told a story about the history of Thanksgiving to the Kindergarten and Primary students. He showed picture by picture and he explained with his attractive style, so the students enjoyed this activity so much.
After the Story Telling, the students had to write something to express their gratitude on the maple leaf paper, and then they hung on the tree of thanks on the 1st floor. Next, there were activities in Village class. “Find the Words and Ways”, let the students to find the words about thanksgiving in the crossword puzzle, and they had to help the turkey escape into the woods (Primary) or help the pilgrim find the turkey (Kindergarten). “Decorate Turkey Picture with Harvest”, let the students to decorate turkey picture by pasting the harvest. While they are pasting the harvest, teacher explain each harvest.
At 10.30, Playgroup B and all Kindergarten students had a “Cooking Chicken Satay”. This activity let the students to cook satay with teachers together. They had to grill the satay on the flamed charcoal and then served the chicken satay to eat. Different activity for Primary students, they had a “Cooking Roasted Chicken”. This activity let the students to cook roasted chicken together with the teachers. Teachers explained the ingredients, how to cook, where the ingredients came from, and how to get the ingredients. Teachers explained during cooking time. At the end of the activities, we prayed together to thank God for everything.
