| | | | | Earth Day Celebration |
Thursday, April 22, 2010 | | As an international school, SGS also celebrates Earth Day. Earth Day is celebrated every April 22nd and has been since 1970. Earth Day is a day that inspires awareness and appreciation for the Earth’s natural environment. Earth Day is a day that reminds us to care for our earth as our place to live. Through our concern for our earth, let’s make every day an Earth Day.
Earth day is identified with 3R’s : Reuse, Reduce and Recycle. On this day, all Kindergarten and Primary students used a “special costume”. Yeah, we can call it a “special costume” because the costume’s were made from by pieces of used newspaper. It was reminder that we can reuse everyday things like used newspaper etc.
There were 3 different activities for this event. There were 3 groups, each accompanied by 3 teachers. Each group had to do an activity. The first activity was “Sweeping The Floor”. The second activity was “Picking Up Rubbish”. And the third activity was “Watering The Plants.” Those activities were meaningful to the students showing that they have to love and care for their earth so that they can still enjoy it in the future.
