Saturday, May 2, 2009 | In the first week of May 2009, SGS as a new International School in West Surabaya held a big event for their grand opening. This event started at 08.00 o’clock in the morning and all staff and teachers participated to make this event a great success.
At this event, SGS wanted to introduce all of its special rooms. In this school every classroom has a special name based on the wall picture of the classroom. For example the classroom with the mountain picture is called Mountain Classroom, the room with a picture showing many cars is called City Classroom, etc. SGS also has other special rooms that can support the students learning. Those rooms are Theatre, Laboratory, Art Room, Music room, Kitchen, Reading room, Play Land and the Soft Play room.
At this event, the visitors especially children, went to the rooms while their parents discussed school information with the administration office. Every room had a special activity. In the Art room, the children made art with Teacher Vidya as a room keeper. In the Kitchen, the children made a glass of Orange Squash with Teacher Henny. In the Theatre, the children watched a movie with Teacher Dian. In the Computer room, the children played computer games with Mr. Putu as a room keeper. In the Laboratory, teacher Esti as a room keeper taught the children how to use a microscope. In the Reading room, teacher Wenny as room keeper read story books for the children.
At this event, SGS offered the promotion to the parents. SGS gave a special discount to the parents during the open house, and gave them a free trial for 2 weeks. The event finished at 4 o’clock in the afternoon. All staff and teachers strive to continue improving the school to attract many new students.
